Ann's Bath

Ann’s Bath: Creating a Sanctuary with Artisan Botanical Tile

When designing a bathroom, it’s easy to settle for standard, mass-produced materials. However, for Ann’s Bath, the goal was different: to create a tactile, nature-inspired sanctuary that feels like a piece of the Michigan outdoors.

The Vision: A Botanical Retreat

Ann wanted her space to move beyond the functional. By integrating Whistling Frog's botanical series, we were able to bring the intricate textures of ferns and wildflowers into the daily routine.

  • The Focal Point: A custom backsplash featuring relief-carved tiles that catch the light through shifting glazes.

  • Cohesive Palette: We used a mix of our signature greens and earth tones to ground the space in a natural aesthetic.

Why Small Accents Matter in Bath Design

You don't need to tile every inch of a room to make a statement. In Ann's Bath, we focused on "spot" placements among standard field tiles, which:

  1. Directs the Eye: The artisan pieces act as "jewelry" for the walls.

  2. Manages Budget: This approach allows for a high-end, custom look without the cost of a full-room custom installation.

  3. Adds Texture: Unlike flat, factory-made tiles, our hand-pressed ceramics offer a physical depth you can feel.

Handcrafted Tradition

Like all our work, every tile in this project was made in our Alden, MI studio and hand-stamped with our whistling frog seal of authenticity. This ensures that Ann’s Bath isn't just a renovation; it’s a continuation of a 35-year tradition in ceramic arts.
