Nuthatch Art Tile
Nuthatch Art Tile
Nuthatch art tile was sculpted by Tonya. Choose your favorite color of this little tree clinging bird.
Materials: made in Michigan porcelain and Rick's specially formulated glaze. Using Rick's time tested recipes, we make small batches of glaze. Working small like we do, allows for variations in the glazes, creating one of a kind pieces. All of our tiles are handmade in our Michigan studio. This tile measures 3.75 x 3.75”, nominal size-4x4", with raised relief of .5" or less.
There is a notch on back for hanging, yet if you wish to install, it's also suitable for that too. If used outdoors in freezing temperatures, just make sure to keep it vertical. Purchase our 4x4" tile stand separately.
Here’s a quick ‘How’s it made?’ breakdown: We sculpt the original design, make a plaster mold, press in clay, wait for drying, fire in kiln, glaze, fire again to about 2230 degrees and then cool.
We donate a percentage of each tile sold to one of the organizations listed on the 'Community' page of our website. Check it out. It’s feel good time!

The Nuthatch Art Tile is a masterful observation of the "acrobat of the tree trunks." For the backyard birder and the Audubon enthusiast, this tile captures the unique character and downward-facing silhouette that makes the Nuthatch a favorite sight in the northern woods.
A Tribute to Avian Behavior & Habitat:
High-Relief Avian Portraiture: More than a simple decoration, this is a field study in porcelain. The high-relief design captures the bird’s nimble grip and curious expression with the anatomical precision birders appreciate.
Artisan Small-Batch Glazes: Each tile is hand-pressed and finished with signature glazes that mirror the cool greys and earthy tones of the woodland canopy. No two tiles are identical, reflecting the unique variations of nature.
Enduring Heritage Quality: Fired to nearly 2230°F, this museum-quality porcelain is waterproof and heat-resistant. It is an ideal choice for a kitchen backsplash overlooking your feeders or a nature-inspired bathroom installation.
